Regional Medical Laboratory Scientist

UNIQUE HEALTHCARE CHALLENGES COMBINED WITH CROSS-CULTURAL INTERESTS
Healthcare is more than medicine—it’s a way to change the world.
As a Foreign Service Regional Medical Laboratory Scientist, you’ll discover a career combination that enables you to develop your professional skills and engage your personal interests. And with the U.S. Department of State, you may experience living and working abroad in developing areas where access to medical care and facilities is limited.
You will provide critical support to our U.S. Embassy health units by managing the accuracy, safety, and efficiency of all lab-related operations to ensure the best possible healthcare for our U.S. diplomats and their families abroad. You will perform a range of tests and procedures, from routine to highly specialized, in various fields including: Parasitology, Microbiology, Serology, Chemistry, Hematology, Blood Banking and Urinalysis. You may encounter challenges that will engage your unique potential and stretch your creativity, all while having rewarding experiences, exploring new places and different cultures.
In return for your service, you’ll have access to continued medical training and career development programs; health and medical coverage; federal retirement benefits; and generous paid leave. When serving overseas, you’ll receive paid housing or an appropriate housing allowance, and paid education for dependent children K through 12.
